- Water Fire Extinguishers: This is the most widely used extinguisher and is used on fires involving solid combustible items such as wood, paper, fabrics and coal.
- Foam Fire Extinguishers: More expensive than the water extinguisher but is more versatile. Foam spray extinguishers are not recommended for electricity fires.
- Dry Powder Fire Extinguishers: Often known as the ‘multi-purpose’ extinguisher. It is best for running liquid fires.
- CO2 Fire Extinguishers are full of carbon dioxide gas under very high pressure which is designed to starve the fire of oxygen.
